Our family watched the movie "It Happened on 5th Avenue" a few days ago. Funny, classic - and a message.

A homeless man and his dog had been coming to a very wealthy mans 2nd home for a few winters. This time though extra people joined him. One was the daughter of the owner. Eventually the owner and his estranged wife joined as well. The 3 rich guests pretended to be homeless vagrants to stay. Humility was on the course every day..

One rule was to always go thru the back fence door - never thru the front door. The chief vagrant was a man called "Aloysius T. McKeever".

Quotes:

There are richer men than I - Mickey O'Connor - the 2nd richest man in the world - referring to Aloysius T. McKeever - the vagrant with love for life - irregardless of the circumstances.

In the end Mickey O'Connor watches as Aloysius leaves the house...not a care in the world. As Aloysius fades away - Mickey remarks "Next year he's coming in the front door." A remark of a changed heart...

Prayer for this time...

Grant us, Lord, to hope on your name, which is the primal source of all creation, and open the eyes of our hearts that we may know you,...
