The deceptive Gospel of Christian Nationalism

In Dr Michael Austin's book he outlines why Christian Nationalism (CN) has neither Christian virtues or ones contained in the American constitutional democracy.

Nationalism is a well defined term and is different than patriotism. I think this definition fits well- In "Why do the Nations Rage" David A. Ritchie quotes General Golbery do Cuoto e Silva:

One of the problems with nationalism is it neglects the Kingdom that is much larger and without borders.

Thus to be a Nationalist your allegiance belongs to an earthly realm. Supreme loyalty to the State. A disordered love. On Christian pastor said - well if its not Christian Nationalism it will be ____ Nationalism (secular, Hindu,etc). This is a logical error that Nationalism offers Like the One Ring - we will be tempted to use it for Good - not realizing that we will do evil and it will change us. One book I read talked about the apostle Paul being a nationalist (make Rome moral and God will return)...before his conversion.

A missionary came to our church and mentioned being saddened that the church in American will have hundreds of services about those serving in the service to one or two about those suffering for the faith in many of the counties that have active persecution going on. Some - to fill the pews will compromise..a little bit never hurt. This resonates well with a well known missionary that put on a conference at the church we attend.

Early Christianity was weird by a Romans view - it was foolish - it was for women, illiterates and slaves - the lower class. Rome was prideful - their gods reflected that. Christ was humble - Christians worshiped a God that was in Romes eyes weak.

Some will say its only a 0.01% problem. Which means they will see it is a limited small problem OR its actually good. The stats don't agree. This is a price we are paying for bad discipleship and echo chambers that due to algorithms that amplifies the echo chambers - many times with false facts that feed the fear.

I pray that many that are starting their bow toward Christian Nationalism will read this. Some will be convinced or take pause. Some will read it and be doubly convicted that CN is not the way. Some will hear a better clarification of the Gospel and answer the Saviors call.
