Interesting letter - written by a mother - in prison then put to death for her faith.
The Year 1539
Anneken and Arnet met and were married. They had a well todo life - but found it empty. They came to faith in Christ in a country that persecuted Anabaptists. So they fled to London. The husband died after getting sick so the wife returned to the Netherlands where she was put in prison with her 3 and 1 month old son.
The following letter Anneken wrote to her infant son ..
On the way to being put to death for her faith she shouted
"I have a baby five quarters of a year old. Who will take him?"
A poor baker took the infant before she and some other women were tied up and placed on an ice cover river
where they broke the ice and the martyrs drowned.
