To start the new year my wife Dawn and I went to see "A Hdden Life" - directed by Terrance Malick It was the first film of his I've been able to go and see.

Cinematically captivating - breathtaking breautiful.  A sad ending - except as a Christian I believe and know the story is not done yet.

Franz Jägerstätter was a devout Catholic farmer that live in Radegund, Austria.

He becomes more uncomfortable with how he sees his country and even his Church going. He became a conciencse objector and was beheaded on Aug 9, 1946

Some of the theology spoken is quite amazing...

Lawyer: "Sign this an you can be free" Franz: "I am already free.  I dont want to be in chains to the will"

Franz: "We look forward to the God that will redeem all things"

All through the film you can see Franz wrestle with his decision. The personal cost. The cost his wife and children made.

Prayer for this time...

Grant us, Lord, to hope on your name, which is the primal source of all creation, and open the eyes of our hearts that we may know you,...
